Q: Is WCRC a legal body?
A: Its legality is derived
from the mandate given by you as private parcel owners to
represent your interests. It is only a committee comprising a
group of parcel owners, and it is not an association.
Q: Do you intend to register it as a society?
A: Yes, we should do that in due course but
WCRC will then be substituted by a residents' association
probably known as the Wadihana Condominum Residents' Association
under the Societies Act 1966. The need to register the same will
become more urgent if the establishment of the management
corporation continues to be delayed.
Q: Why don't we set up the management
corporation now?
A: Legally, we can only do so after
individual titles (strata titles) to the units have been issued.
Therefore, until such time, we need a body to represent our
interests as parcel owners and residents in our dealings with
the developer and the management company.
Q: Do we need to pay for the services of the
WCRC members?
No. The services rendered by the WCRC members are absolutely
voluntary. All they need is the support of the parcel owners and
their tenants. Currently, they are coming out with their
own monies to help run the WCRC including the management of this
website.
Q: Do we need to pay any subscription fees?
It depends. WCRC has just only been
established barely 2 months ago. We hope to hold a general
meeting of all parcel owners in a few months' time so that fresh
elections can be held to replace or endorse the present pro-tem
committee. Therefore, the question of subscription fees can only
be determined after a proper general meeting has been held. It
is onviously desirable for a fund to be set up to finance the
activities organised by WCRC as well as to cover administrative
expenses undertaken by WCRC members. |
